It is almost May and graduation season is upon us. I remember buying clothes when I was younger. I dragged my mom to all the clothing stores in our city and then I think I ended up picking up a dress that I saw in the first store we went to; Isn’t that what 17-year-old girls always do? Graduation season is an exciting and stressful time for girls. Finding a date, organizing a limo, ordering bodices, and all the other little details you need to plan a prom.
I have to say that shopping for dresses was the best part. Assuming it was frustrating and exhausting in the end, it was fun trying on such a wide variety of sparkly dresses, desperate for what it would make you feel like Cinderella at prom. I think I tried 100 dresses in my senior year, but I started early. As any seasoned shopper knows, you need to start shopping months in advance or else there will be nothing left but big party dresses and little things a 12 year old could fit into. Believe me, the selection of the dress is of the utmost importance. Every girl wants to be the prettiest at prom, and it’s a tough decision.
At the first prom I went to, I put off shopping and ended up having a hard time finding a dress. I thought about buying a plus size party dress and having it delivered because there was nothing left in my size. I kicked myself for a while, but in the end I found the most perfect dress anyone could imagine. It sounds frivolous and superficial, but for many girls their first prom is the first big formal event they can attend and finding that dress that makes you feel like a princess is key.
